Alix Malka was born in the south of France. As a young stage opera singer, he was struck by the magic of the visual arts that soon grew into a passion for fashion, and film. He graduated with a fine art degree in Aix en Provence and completed Fashion Design at Esmod, Paris.

He worked for decades as art director beside iconic designer Thierry Mugler creating all aspects of a haute couture house, especially creating worldwide iconic fashion shows (concept, scenography, sets, lighting, casting, soundtrack, videos etc…).

His avant-guard vision reached new heights when he took on the artistic direction legendary George Micheal video “Too Funky” directed by Thierry Mugler.

He played an integral part of the House of Mugler, collaborating with numerous photographers including masters such as Helmut Newton and Richard Avedon. These inspirational collaborations played a pivotal part in fulfilling Alixʼs dream of becoming a photographer.

His unique background in fashion and runway show production has led him to collaborate with various international TV shows. France : Paris Premiere, Canal +. US: VH1 - Vogue fashion & music awards, ABC’s Vogue USA Haute Couture live from Paris, which was a collaboration with Anna Wintour and André-Léon Talley featuring all Paris Couture designers but also interviews of Madonna, Tom Ford, …

In 2002, he moved to New York and started his fashion photography career, quickly becoming involved with countless prestigious fashion magazines, including Vogue, Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar, GQ, Rolling Stone, Numero, The Face, I.D…

Alix has shot a number of high-profile fashion campaigns, such as Jean-Paul Gaultier, Lanvin, Nina Ricci, Barneyʼs, Harry Winston, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Guess, Uniqlo, H&M and Nike.

He is well known for his beauty images, his aesthetic and sense of details, which have allowed him to work worldwide with clients such as M.A.C. Cosmetics, Helena Rubenstein, Maybelline, L’Oréal and Pantene. He has also shot fragrance campaigns, including Guess Seductive, Byblos and Areva.

Alix has built a comprehensive list of celebrities over the years, including Kim Kardashian, Adam Levine, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion, Sophia Loren, Jared Leto, Sharon Stone, Elle Fanning, David Guetta, Courtney Love, Ashton Kutcher, Chloe Moretz, Lindsay Lohan, Cindy Crawford, Amber Valletta, Milla Jovovitch, Stephanie Seymour, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Christian Louboutin, Laetitia Casta, Monica Bellucci and Irina Shayk.

His first exhibition was “In Fashion Photo/Art Basel” followed by an exhibition at Soho Gallery, New York. 

Alix’s photography has been featured in various international museum exhibitions and publications such as “The Fashion World of Jean-Paul Gaultier: from the sidewalk to the catwalk”. 

He also contributed to Thierry Mugler’s worldwide museum exhibition and publication “Thierry Mugler, Couturissime” featuring artworks of Kim Kardashian and Irina Shayk. Alix was the art director and initiator of the iconic George Michael “too funky” video directed by Thierry Mugler, which also featured as part of the exhibition. The exhibition premiered in Montreal and then traveled to notable cities such as New York, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Paris.

His debut as a director started with ABCʼs Vogue USA Haute-Couture, which was a collaboration with Anna Wintour and Andre Leon Talley featuring Tom Ford, Madonna and Karl Lagerfeld.

He has directed commercials for such clients as Guess, Thierry Mugler perfume and Areva perfumes.

Alix has collaborated as the creative director for 7HOLLYWOOD magazine, a unique collector publication distributed worldwide, which celebrates pop culture, celebrities, fashion and art.

Alix divides his time between New York, Los Angeles and Paris.
